14.25" W by 22" L. From John Henry here in Seale, AL.
John Henry Toney born in rural Alabama on October 18, 1928 with a love to draw. His art was almost lost during his younger years when he drew a picture of his boss. Apparently the boss was not flattered and fired John Henry to which John Henry swore off drawing forever. Luckily for us at the ripe age of 66, he was plowing a field and saw a turnip root unearth with a perfect face in the vegetable. John Henry, a deeply religious man and often referred to as Mustache Jesus, took this as a sign to begin painting again.
Thus John Henry's art career was reborn. He was able to enjoy the last decades of his life drawing the pictures that brought joy to him and those around him. He lived until 2019 passing away shortly after his 91st birthday.
