Antique Folk Art Carving Horse & Oxen Teams & Covered Wagon Farm Collection
Antique Folk Art Carving Horse & Oxen Teams & Covered Wagon Farm Collection. Antique Vermont Folk Art Carving. Morgan Work Horse with 2 Oxen Teams. As you can see in the first photo with the yardstick, the collection displays at 2 feet long. Individual ox are 6 long x 4 high. The wagon including the tongue is about 15 long. Wooden wheels on axles turn freely. The canopy top sits on the wagon bed and can be removed. The workmanship and detail is charming. The pieces are in very good condition with the original paint and surface. There are some glue repairs to a few ox feet, the horse tail, and wagon canopy bows or hoops, but considering that this was once played with and then stored in a barn for many years, the collection is in wonderful condition. The paint surface on the oxen is just incredible with color and texture that almost looks like pottery. The canvas covering on the covered wagon is a bit tatty, but obviously original. The fabric is attached to upright bows with old brass head tacks. The oxen teams are connected with carved neck yokes. A small chain runs from the front team to a hook on the wagon tongue.

The horse carving is well done and resembles a Morgan which makes sense since this was found in Vermont. Penciled on the bottom is the name Morse and location Maple Corners. I describe each item honestly and do my best to represent each item accurately.

Multiple photographs are provided so that you can clearly view the item and make informed decisions about condition and value. Your satisfaction is extremely important to me. Ill be sure to do the same for you.
